Capt Brian Smith has fished rivers, lakes, ponds, creeks, Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico since he was old enough to hold a rod. From the mountain streams of West Virginia, east to the Atlantic. From Va. Beach and the Outer Banks, eventually south to Florida and then landing on the west coast in the Gulf of Mexico. If Capt B put a foot down in a state, city or country, he put a rod down to see what was biting. Capt B has fished the Gulf from Cedar Key to Steinhatchee for 35 years, 23 of those years, exclusively out of Steinhatchee.
The pristine estuaries, scallops, stone crabs, and green-blue, clear offshore waters captured his heart to make the permanent move to this quaint little village. The tug of Big Fish lured Capt B offshore, exploring for grouper, kingfish and cobia from 20′ to 180′. Fishing is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get! He targets grouper, snappers, kingfish, cobia, spanish, various other reef fish, even the thrill of shark fishing! Some of the bonus fish found offshore, small mahi, blackfin tuna and even sailfish! Capt B loves to take everyone from the expert to the novice fishing. He is especially gifted with families and the patience to share his vast knowledge with children, teaching them the ins-and-outs of fishing. The large, spacious TwinVee 32′ boat is a smooth ride and safe for children of all ages. Ask Capt B his favorite part about fishing? He will tell you ‘the People’. He loves to share his passion of fishing and knowledge with others. It is all about making a memory and now we are seeing the second and third generation of families return to share in that love of the sea!
